The Halo Effect

The Halo Effect | 16 x 20” | Oil on Panel | Available

Introducing The Halo Effect, a new work from the 2026 collection. This painting features tall bearded irises inspired by varieties such as Before the Storm, Dusky Challenger, Champagne Elegance, and La Fortune irises, arranged against an opulent gold wallpaper detail to create strong visual contrast through complementary color. The composition centers on a single dominant bloom, reinforced by a subtle halo effect.

The arrangement was intentionally designed to contrast opulence with humility and decline. Gold wallpaper details, haloed lighting, and the proud central iris are set against a simple clay vessel and modest wooden tabletop, while wilted irises recede quietly into the shadows below. Fallen petals and fading flowers reflect the artist’s continued interest in themes of life, mortality, and the passage of time, recurring elements throughout her work. Inspired by Dutch still life painting traditions, The Halo Effect contrasts beauty, abundance, and impermanence within the same composition.
