Work in Progress

Follow my journey in creating this

bold bouquet.

The story begins with a bold blue background.

Besides the fact that blue is one of my favorite colors, I specifically wanted the piece to feel slightly dramatic from the very beginning. Additionally, I knew that ultramarine blue would complement the colors of the floral bouquet I would soon add to the piece.

Then, the flowers are added one petal at a time.

From there, I slowly built the arrangement flower by flower, focusing on color, balance, and contrast. Inspired by Dutch still life paintings, I wanted each flower to feel expressive while still working together as part of the larger composition.

And why not add a dragon?

… and a lemon?

… and some grapes?

As you can see, this piece is very much still a work in progress, with many details and layers still to come, but I always enjoy sharing a look behind the scenes in the studio. I hope you enjoy following the process as much as I enjoy creating the piece itself.

There is much more to this story that I look forward to sharing with you …
